There’s a kind of alchemy that happens when water catches fire—when the day, surrendering to night, spills its last breath into the ocean’s restless mouth. In this photograph, I captured that fleeting moment when the sun cradles the horizon and light performs a final, unrepeatable dance across the waves. The splash in the foreground feels like the ocean’s applause, its joy, its rebellion, and its sorrow all at once. Every droplet suspended midair seems to say, “I was here when the sky burned open.”
What draws me to this image is how it holds presence. The horizon stretches like a memory, glowing with all the colors we try to name but never quite can. The splash isn't background—it’s the heart of the story, caught mid-beat, holding time in its translucent fingers. And somehow, in witnessing this instant, I feel less alone. I feel the presence of the eternal—of those I’ve lost, of who I’ve been, and of all the beauty still rushing toward me.
