Nature’s Grace: Dewy Stone At Sunset In Chilmark
Couldn't load pickup availability
Captured on a summer evening in Chilmark, this image pauses time at the moment when day bows gracefully to night. The foreground—anchored by a smooth, dewy stone resting on weathered wood—contrasts gently with the vast expanse of open land, where tall trees and soft grasses breathe beneath a sky washed in hues of lavender, coral, and cerulean. The stone, kissed by droplets, becomes both witness and monument—humble yet eternal—rooted in stillness while the sun slips into a quiet blaze. This photograph speaks to the dignity of nature’s simplest offerings and invites the viewer into a realm where silence is golden, and grace is found in the unspoken.
The following poem, "Stonelight," emerges from the same stillness that shaped this photograph—an attempt to give voice to what the image quietly holds.
Stonelight
The stone does not ask to be seen—
yet it receives the sky,
holds a flame the sun left behind,
wears silence like breath.
Beneath the grain of the railing,
centuries lean into the present.
Wood remembers rain,
remembers touch,
remembers everything that stays still long enough to listen.
The field does not posture.
Trees keep their arms open
without needing an answer.
Evening happens without effort.
And still—this glint,
this soft echo of fire resting in a stone’s skin,
this accidental altar—
is enough to believe
that beauty sometimes chooses the unnoticed.
Now available through my online gallery, this piece is a meditation in color and texture—a reminder to slow down, observe, and feel the wisdom of the earth.
