Her Higher Power

In Her Higher Power, I attempt to capture the profound connection between nature and the human spirit. A woman stands in front of the vast ocean, her back turned to the viewer as she faces a radiant light breaking through the clouds. The golden sunbeams seem to embrace her, offering a sense of warmth, guidance, and reassurance. Soft pastel hues of pink, blue, and gold blend seamlessly, creating an ethereal atmosphere that evokes peace and transcendence. The gentle movement of the grass and the stillness of the water reflect the balance between strength and serenity. This painting symbolizes the idea that nature serves as a divine presence—an ever-present source of comfort, inspiration, and support during times of uncertainty. It is a reminder that even in solitude, we are never truly alone.
In Her Higher Power
for the light that never leaves us
She walks the hush between the dune and dawn,
where grasses lean like whispered prayers in wind.
Her footprints fade—no claim, no need to own—
just presence held where endings might begin.
The sea is still. The sky begins to sing.
No face turned back, no burden in her hands,
she meets the sun without apology.
Its gold breaks through like breath, not demand,
and bathes her in a calm theology—
a grace unnamed, but known intrinsically.
She doesn't ask the light to make her whole,
nor bargain with the waves to stay their tide.
She simply listens with her silent soul
and finds the truth no fear can override:
that power lives where tenderness resides.
Around her, time dissolves to gentle hue—
rose clouds, blue air, the threshold of the real.
The wind forgets what it once thought it knew,
and she becomes the stillness she can feel,
held not by answers, but by what can heal.
So let her stand, not lost, but wide awake,
a woman shaped by storm, by salt, by flame.
She does not wait for signs or hearts to break—
she walks in light that does not need a name.
And in its warmth, she is, and will remain.
