The morning begins

These wild roses—

to be seen
or remembered.

a language the body
understands before the mind.

I walk slowly now,

each step

with the land that raised me.

Some blooms open

when the world is honest
and the heart
is quiet enough
to notice.

I no longer measure life
by what stays,
but by what arrives
without force—
like this morning,
this bloom, this breath.
