I began with a blank canvas the way a wave begins—
all potential, all momentum.
I asked the sea, What does unstoppable joy look like?
The tide answered with a woman walking straight out of radiance,
her stride a hymn, her presence a horizon.
I loaded my brush with celebration:
turquoise bright as first-day laughter,
saffron like the secret language of sunrise,
pearlescent foam that sparkles with possibility.
Where these tones meet, they don’t blend so much as dance—
a chromatic festival inviting the eye to join in.
Light became my co-conspirator.
Together we stitched shimmer to every contour,
so her shoulders glint the way a shell does when it’s just met the sun.
Her wind-lifted hair catches golden spirals,
proof that even photons want to linger in her orbit.
The shoreline itself seems thrilled by her arrival—
sand polishing each footprint, surf applauding in soft percussive bursts.
Nothing in this scene sighs or laments;
everything is mid-exclamation, caught in the act of praise.
She walks, and the world remembers
its own capacity for brightness.
Gaze long enough and you may feel the breeze nudge you forward,
reminding you that courage can be casual, even barefoot.
Gaze a little longer and you’ll notice—
the sky has borrowed its blue from her sarong,
because joy this vivid is contagious,
and color, like laughter, loves to spread.
Sun Steps (six stanzas of lifted light)
She threads the dawn through her hair—
strand by strand of liquid gold—
and the sky, astonished, blushes
into a wider morning.
Each footfall softens the shoreline,
teaching sand how to sing.
Grains sparkle like tiny yeses
scattered at her heels.
Salt wind flutters her wrap—
an aqua banner of welcome.
The ocean hums in harmonies,
practicing the chorus of freedom.
She carries daylight the way a river carries stars—
effortless, inevitable.
Wherever shadow lingers,
her laughter turns it transparent.
Even gulls alter their flight-paths
to keep rhythm with her pulse.
When confidence moves like music,
all wings find the beat.
Far down the shimmering beach
sunset waits, but not to dim her.
It arrives only to crown the moment—
raising a toast of color to endless light.
