What the Chrysalis Couldn't Hold (Original)

$2,500.00

What the Chrysalis Couldn’t Hold is an original acrylic painting that arrived through intuition more than intention. She came to me slowly, in fragments and color bursts, as if surfacing from a dream I didn't know I was carrying. I didn’t try to control her form. Instead, I let her emerge—wings first, gaze second—each brushstroke an offering to the story of what cannot be caged. She is the embodiment of transformation at its most intimate and necessary. She stands for the moments when we’ve outgrown our old skins, when silence splits open, and the truth of who we are begins to shimmer through.

Metamorphosis, for me, is not soft. It’s sacred and unruly. This painting honors that unruliness—the refusal to stay small, the beauty of becoming too much for what once held you. Every shade of blue, every luminous line, pulses with resilience and release. What the Chrysalis Couldn’t Hold is a portrait of emergence—not polished, but powerful. She belongs in a space where evolution is celebrated, where wings are not decoration, but memory and prophecy. If she speaks to you, trust that—it means part of your own metamorphosis is ready to be witnessed.

Poem: What the Chrysalis Couldn't Hold

She was never meant to stay folded,
not in the silence of what broke her open.
The silence was only a beginning—
a dark bloom,
a tight breath held before becoming sky.

No one saw the shedding but her bones,
no one heard the soft refusal in her ribs
as she broke the mold from the inside out,
rising not for escape,
but because the chrysalis could no longer lie.

She stitched her own wings
from memory and wildness,
from all the times she wasn’t believed,
from the heat of being unseen—
and still she glowed.

The colors weren’t chosen.
They were the remnants of every survival.
She is not painted, she is revealed.
Not captured, but recalled—
as something too luminous to be held.

Now she waits in full bloom,
not asking for flight, but for reverence.
She is the aftermath of silence.
She is what the chrysalis couldn’t hold.
And she is still unfolding
