“Radiance Dreamscape” painting is exhibited at the Falmouth Art Center Art “Think Small or Think Big” Event. The in-person opening reception starts on March 7th, 2025, and ends at the end of the month. In this mixed-media abstract-realism painting, I seek to evoke an introspective response from its viewers. At its core is the portrait of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) woman whose stoic eyes radiate wisdom and show a profound connection across time and space. Her hair transforms into a vibrant halo of multicolored butterfly wings, symbolizing freedom and transformation—an invitation for viewers to come closer and engage with the layers of meaning interwoven into the artwork.
The backdrop of the composition is resplendent with shades of purple, orange, and blue, creating a vivid and dynamic environment. The inclusion of circular patterns within this backdrop attempts to add depth and intrigue, inviting the viewer to explore the interplay of these elements with the central portrait. This interaction between portrait and surrounding elements acts as a catalyst for personal interpretation, encouraging viewers to feel intrigued and to delve into the unique narrative. Central to the piece is the focus on the African American female gaze, which serves as a cultural and personal symbol of resilience and wisdom. This is further enhanced by the surrounding elements—such as the tiger, butterfly, glowing dragonfly, and waterfall—which together cultivate an ethereal atmosphere, blending whimsy with contemplation.
