The Shape of His Return

She walks barefoot through the tall grass,
like she always does when she's by the shore.
The sea ahead, beautifully wide,
pulls her the way love does—
without question, without apology.

Her dress, wind-touched and salt-soft,
trails behind like a second tide.
She’s not rushing.
She already feels him in the air—
a quiet hum under her ribs.

His love is real,
but so is the ache.
It’s been seasons, maybe lifetimes,
and still, her heart holds the shape
only he could ever fill.

She lifts her hand—not to ask,
but to answer.
She knows he sees her.
She knows he's come home.
This is what faith looks like, with skin.

The sky, all lavender and fire,
bows above them in silence.
No fanfare. No witness.
Just light,
and the love that never left.

But in fact, the tide comes in with no sail in sight,
the horizon holding only light.
Her hand drops slowly to her side—
the sky unchanged, the silence true.
It was a mirage,
a dream she still believes could come true.
